A 1.5km mountain thrill ride — no snow experience needed
The Southern Hemisphere’s first-ever year-round Alpine Coaster winds 1.5km through the alpine environment, featuring tunnels, bridges and sweeping mountain views. As the sun sets over the Snowy Mountains, Thredbo’s skies light up with fireworks — a free weekly show visible from almost anywhere in the village. It’s one of those moments that catches you off guard the first time, and brings you back every year after. For something extra special, book the Kareela Supper Club: a gondola and snowcat ride across the mountain, followed by the fireworks show from the Kareela deck.

Walk under the stars with a guide — hot chocolate included
No skiing. No snowboarding. Just you, the mountain and a blanket of stars. This guided after-dark snowshoe tour begins with a gondola ride at sunset, then takes you through Thredbo’s alpine landscape by night. Your guide shares stories of the region’s ski history, its fragile ecosystem and its indigenous heritage. The tour ends with tea or hot chocolate — included — before the gondola brings you home above the glowing village lights below.

The July school holidays are something else entirely at Thredbo. The Kids Snow Festival packs three weeks with movie nights, a kids’ flare run, on-mountain adventures and plenty of free activities. It’s built for families who want their kids to have a proper mountain experience — not just a day in the snow, but a week of memories.

Australia’s biggest alpine music season
Thredbo’s après scene is the stuff of legend — and Winter 2026 is the biggest lineup yet. Free concerts, world-class DJs and live acts throughout the season, including SHOUSE, Cut Copy (DJ set), Young Franco and more. All ages welcome. Entry is free, first-come first-served. The mountain by day. The music by night. This is a full weekend sorted.

Swim, climb, bounce and play — five minutes from the village square
On a rest day (or for those who just want warm and active), the Thredbo Leisure Centre is a surprisingly complete facility. There’s a heated swimming pool with waterslide and inflatable, a weights gym, bouldering wall, squash courts, sports hall and a recreational trampoline centre. Pickleball runs daily from 7am. It’s five minutes’ walk from the village — and makes a perfect morning or afternoon when the group has different plans.

For the kids who can’t sit still
The Zero Gravity facility at the Leisure Centre — normally reserved for elite athlete training — opens for supervised public trampoline sessions throughout winter. Kids and adults 8 years and over can bounce on Olympic-sized trampolines and a Supertramp, with staff on hand to ensure safety. Sessions run Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 3pm to 6pm, with extra sessions added during school holidays.

18 holes, mountain views, no handicap required
Thredbo’s disc golf course winds through 18 holes of bushland, open fields and eucalypts, with mountain views the whole way around. Played like traditional golf but with a flying disc — it’s easy to pick up, genuinely fun, and one of those activities the whole family ends up enjoying more than expected.
